Men's tennis' Matthew Berry and women's Mylene Martin, who combined for a 40-8 singles record this season, were named Most Valuable Players at the annual USF Tennis Banquet at the Fior d'Italia Restaurant in North Beach.
Men's head coach Peter Bartlett started the evening by reviewing his season and then brought up his lone senior, Matthew Berry. After receiving his senior watch, Bartlett announced that Berry was named Most Valuable Player.
Berry, who was selected as first team all-West Coast Athletic Conference last week, had a spectacular senior season. He recorded a 21-4 record in dual matches and beat every West Coast Conference opponent he faced this year.
Bartlett then announced that Torin Chinn, a sophomore from Honolulu, won the Most Improved Player Award.
Martin had a stellar season with a 19-4 singles mark.
