Wave Duo Takes Doubles Title at Cal State Fullerton Tournament

Malibu, Calif. - Pepperdine's top-seeded doubles team of freshmen Tania Rice and Anete Bandere took home the doubles title on Sunday at the 2006 Cal State Fullerton Fall Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament in Fullerton, Calif. Pepperdine also saw freshman Jill Braverman in the singles championship match.

The Wave duo put away the USC doubles team of Amber Harper and Katcha Decker-Sadowski, 8-5, to advance to the championship match. The tandem met Silvia Gutierrez and Kanykey Koichumanova of Cal State Northridge with the Waves coming out on top, 8-5.

In singles, fourth-seeded Braverman defeated Long Beach State's Jessica Weeks, 6-2, 6-2, to advance to the title match, but was upset by Brittany Blalock of Cal Poly 6-1, 7-6.

The women's team is back in action this weekend when it travels to the Midland Racquet Club Invitational in Midland, Texas.
