Pepperdine to Compete at Wilson/ITA Regional Tennis Championship

The women's tennis team is back in action as it competes in the Wilson/ITA West Regional Championships which are being hosted by San Diego and San Diego State. Matches will be held at the Barnes Tennis Center and will begin on Thursday at 8 a.m. with doubles, while singles kicks off at 10 a.m.

Seeded second, junior Bianca Dulgheru is Pepperdine's top seed in singles, while junior teammate Sylvia Kosakowski is seeded 9th. The pair team up for a second seed in doubles.

In the first round of singles play at 10 a.m., freshman Tania Rice will face Arizona's Sydni Katz and junior Alicia Poladian takes on Holly Bagshaw of San Diego State. At 11:30 a.m., junior Vanessa Dunlap faces Natalie Tapozowski of Arizona, while senior Caroline Raba faces Helene Lindstrand of San Diego.

Receiving a first-round bye is freshman Anete Bandere, Kosakowski and Dulgheru. Bandere will go up against 13th-seeded Yasmin Schnack of UCLA at 1 p.m and at 2:30 p.m. Kosakowski faces Robyn Baker of LMU, while Dulgheru's opponent is yet to be determined.

In doubles, second-seed Kosakowski and Dulgheru will face Pepperdine teammates Raba and Rice in the second round on Friday at 9 a.m. Poladian and Dunlap pair up for a first-round match tomorrow at 8 a.m. against Hawaii's Sabita Maharaj-Walkup and Jacqui Williams.
