Dulgheru Falls in Semifinals of ITA Regionals

Malibu, Calif. - Junior Bianca Dulgheru fell in the semifinals of singles at the Wilson/ITA West Regional Championships at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif. The No. 2 seed Dulgheru was defeated by No. 12 USC's Sarah Fansler 7-6 (5), 6-2.

After a first-round bye, Dulgheru posted four straight victories before advancing to the semifinal round. In the second round she handed Erynne Oki of UC Riverside a 6-0, 6-0 defeat, which was followed by a 6-3, 6-2 win over USC's Judy DeVera. In the fourth round, Dulgheru reached the quarterfinals after defeating UNLV's Nikoli Dimitrova in three sets and finally, the Bucharest, Romania native easily put away No. 6 seed Tracey Lin of UCLA with a 6-0, 6-4 win to move her into the semifinals.

The women's tennis team is back in action on Nov. 3 at the Arizona Invitational.
