Toreros Competing at SDSU Fall Tennis Classic

(San Diego, CA) - The USD women's tennis team is competing in the SDSU Fall Tennis Classic, and three doubles teams find themselves alive in the winners bracket. Samantha Mouly and Helen Lindstrand won their match in Flight 1 Doubles with an 8-1 win over UCI's Broadfoot-Kaloi tandem. They's face Washington's team of Ardies-Simpson on Saturday morning at 9 am. In Flight 2 Doubles, the USD team of Teeling & Wiesener had a first round bye, and will take on SDSU's team of Colman-Atalay at 9 am. In Flight 3 Doubles, USD's team of Perl and Demidova advanced with an 8-6 win over Oklahoma's Cox-Antakova. The USD duo will face UCI's Shih-Welliver at 9 am as well.

Alexandra Demidova was the lone Torero to advance to the winner's bracket in singles. Playing in the Flight 3 Singles bracket, Demidova beat Washington's Aleksandra Krsljanin, 6-4, 6-2. She'll face TCU's Maria Babanova in one semi-final on Saturday. In Flight 1 Singles, USD's Monica Wiesener lost to TCU's Idunn Hertzberg, 6-1, 7-5. In Flight 2 Singles, USD's Helene Lindstrand dropped a 6-2, 7-5 decision to SMC's Alex Poorta. In Flight 4 Singles, Lauren Perl will face Washington's Melinda Wong in one semi-final after she advanced after SDSU's Kathryn Kitts withdrew. In Flight 5 Singles, Ellie Faulkner lost to UCI's Ali Welliver 6-3, 6-2.
