Dunlap Finishes Strong in Consolations at San Diego State

Malibu, Calif. - The Waves closed out fall tournament action over the weekend at the San Diego Classic and at Arizona State's Thunderbird Invitational. In the third flight of consolation singles at San Diego State, Vanessa Dunlap defeated Caitlin Aloia of Saint Mary's in three sets in the final match. The junior fell in the first set 6-3, but came back to win the next two sets 6-4, 6-2 to win the match.

At the Thunderbird Invitational hosted, Sylvia Kosakowski and Tania Rice defeated Viviana Yrureta and Fernanda Da Valle of Kansas State 8-6 in the last of three doubles matches. In consolation, Kosakowski also posted a win over Yrureta 6-2, 6-4. Rice fell to Michigan's Kara Delicata 7-5, 6-4.

The Pepperdine women's tennis team will open its 2007 season at home on Jan. 20 against Cal Poly.
