San Diego, CA - Saint Mary's women's tennis newcomer, Alex Poorta, advanced to the finals of the Flight 2 Singles of the San Diego State Tennis Classic on Sunday afternoon. Poorta joins the Gaels from the Netherlands, and has made an immediate impact on the team thus far as she defeated Ali Borowicz of UC Irvine 6-1, 7-5 in the finals of the championship.

Head Coach Lisa Alipaz stated, "Alex gained some crucial experience over the weekend, her finish should give her some good momentum going into spring play."
