LMU Wins Third Straight

LOS ANGELES - Loyola Marymount volleyball won its third straight match Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 (30-18, 30-18, 30-10) sweep of Columbia in day two at the LMU Hilton LAX Invitational. Loyola Marymount (6-3), now 2-0 in the weekend's tournament, will face the 10th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers (7-1, 2-0 in tournament) Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. for the invitational title.

Despite the quick match, two Lions tallied double-doubles, as Christianna Reneau tallied 10 kills and 14 digs and Renee Horton finished with 31 assists and 11 digs.

Junior Lindsay Banas recorded a career-high six kills, hitting 6-for-7 without an error to finish with a .857 attack percentage. She added three block assists.

Fellow junior Emily Day had seven kills, all in game three, to help LMU secure the sweep. LMU hit a match-high .519 as a team in the third frame.

The Columbia Lions were led by Amalia Viti's 10 kills and Ellie Thomas' 12 digs.

Columbia will wrap-up tournament action with Tulane in the 5:00 p.m. match.

The LMU Hilton LAX Invitational's two undefeated teams in 10th-ranked Wisconsin and LMU will play for the title tonight at 7:00 p.m. The tournament awards ceremony will follow the match. Follow all of the action on both Gametracker and the Lions' Audio Network at LMULions.com.
