SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's volleyball team continued to roll in the USD Invitational this morning as they cruised to a 3-0 sweep over Brown University in the first match of the day at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
With the 30-21, 30-23, 30-25 win, the Toreros improve to 10-3 overall and have strung together four consecutive victories. With the loss, Brown falls to 1-5 on the season and has yet to win a game in the Tournament.
The Toreros hit .217 as a team compared to that of Brown who had a team attacking percentage of .097.
Offensively for the Toreros, Laura Murphy, Laurel Abrahamson and Erin Wiskar recorded a team-best nine kills apiece. Abrahamson had nine kills come on 16 attempts and only committed one attacking error for a match-best .500 attacking percentage. Jessica Andersen also had a solid day for the Toreros as she had eight kills on 17 attempts and committed no attacking errors for an attack percentage of .471. Jessica Nyrop had a match-best 37 assists to help direct the Toreros' offense.
For the Bears, Rikki Baldwin had match-high 12 kills, as she was the lone player of the match in double-digit kills. Natalie Meyers led Brown in assists with 25.
The Toreros will return to action later this evening as they close out play in the 2006 USD Invitational with a 7 p.m. match against No. 11 Wisconsin.
