(San Francisco) - USF volleyball dominated Cornell 30-11, 30-27, 30-10 Saturday afternoon in its final non-conference match of the season at War Memorial Gym. The Dons (11-5) win their second straight match against the Big Red (3-6) and win their 17th straight contest against schools from the East Coast.
Senior outside hitter Kristin Hasselberg hammered a match-high 14 kills on .367 hitting, while junior middle blocker Carly Babin added 10 kills on .500 hitting. Freshman opposite hitter Sarah Mandala added nine kills to go along with 13 digs.
Junior setter Darcy Carroll did an efficient job running the Dons offense, dishing out 34 assists to go along with six digs, two blocks and a pair of service aces. Senior libero Brynn Maurer added 11 digs for San Francisco.
USF hit a remarkable .385 for the match with a season-low 10 attack errors. The Dons offense held a tremendous 47-25 kills advantage and enjoyed a 53-28 digs edge. San Francisco limited Cornell to a .000 hitting percentage for the match.
San Francisco returns to action when it opens West Coast Conference play at defending league champion San Diego, Saturday September 29. First serve against the Toreros is set for 1:00 PM at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
