Volleyball Drops Non-Conference Match to Sacramento State

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's volleyball team dropped a non-conference match to Sacramento State 3-0 on Saturday night at McKeon Pavilion. The Gaels lost to the Hornets 30-25, 30-24, 30-25.

Saint Mary's was led offensively by Christina Kirk, who recorded 10 kills with a .320 hitting percentage. Kirk also had five digs, two blocks and two aces. Taylor Groess had a team-high 13 kills and Brittany Barker and Megan Burton each added seven kills.

Mandy Bible set the pace with 33 assists, seven digs, four kills and one ace. Lauren Holland added four kills and Cassandra Kolkka had 22 digs.

Saint Mary's will return to action Thursday, September 28 when they face No. 9 Santa Clara at 7:05 p.m. at McKeon Pavilion.

In the first game the Gaels rallied to cut into the Hornets lead late in the game, but Sacramento State held on for a 30-25 win. Kirk recorded four kills in the game and two service aces. Bible had three kills and nine assists and Barker had three kills.

The second game was very similar to Game 1. The Gaels rallied late in the game but couldn't keep up as the Hornets won 30-24. Groess had five kills in the game and Burton added three.
