Los Angeles, CA - The Saint Mary's volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win the final two games and take home a 3-2 victory over Loyola Marymount Thursday night in Los Angeles.
In a game of momentum back and forth, the Gaels took control late in Game 4 and carried it over to the fifth game in a 25-30, 30-27, 30-32, 32-30, 15-8 victory.
With the win the Gaels improve to 8-7 overall and 3-1 in West Coast Conference play. LMU drops to 15-5 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
Saint Mary's defensively recorded 21 blocks, compared to the Lions' nine and held LMU to a .000 hitting percentage in Game 5.
Saint Mary's returns to action on Saturday, October 14 when it travels to Malibu to face the Pepperdine Waves at 1:05 p.m. at Firestone Fieldhouse.
In the third game the Gaels rallied back-and-forth with the Lions, before eventually falling 32-30. But it was the fourth game that the Gaels from a large deficit to take down LMU 32-30.
The Gaels dropped the first game 30-25, but bounced back with a 30-27 victory in Game 2. In the opening game the Gaels hit .045, compared to .111 in the second game. Saint Mary's recorded 12 kills in the second game, while the Lions recorded 16.
