SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's volleyball team has announced its 2006 spring schedule and are set to begin play in Long Beach, Calif. on Saturday April. 1 against the 49ers of Long Beach State University inside the Pyramid.
The Toreros will also be hosting a 12-team tournament on April 8th on the campus of USD for all the local fans to get an opportunity to see the Toreros in action. The Toreros will then conclude spring play at the Loyola Marymount University Tournament to be held in Los Angeles, Calif. on April 22.
This past season the Toreros advanced into the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive season and knocked out three-time national champion Long Beach State during first round play at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion. USD received 24 kills from All-West Coast Conference MH Christie Dawson to oust Co-Big West Champions Long Beach State (25-7) by game scores of 30-28, 25-30, 30-26 and 30-28. The Toreros then fell in the second round of the Tournament to UCLA losing in three straight matches 30-24, 30-23 and 30-19.
USD Finished the 2005 season with a 23-6 overall record and a 10-4 record in the WCC, good for a second place tie with Pepperdine University.
