April 3, 2006

(San Francisco) - USF Volleyball hosted a banquet honoring the accomplishments of the 2005 season Sunday evening in the Handlery Room on the Lone Mountain campus. The Dons recognized the accomplishments and contributions of the USF Volleyball Class of 2005 - opposite Jencie Lejeune and middle blocker KeLicia Shorts - and celebrated the second most successful team in program history.

"It was a great night for USF Volleyball," said head coach Jeff Nelson, who became the winningest coach in program history in just his third season on the Hilltop. "We wereable to reward many people for their outstanding efforts. I was particularly happy for Jencie and KeLicia to be honored tonight!"

LeJeuene and Shorts each completed four-year careers on the Hilltop and depart with the highest win tally of any players leaving the program in school history. The Dons amassed 59 victories during their tenure and reached the 2003 NCAA Tournament - the first berth in program history.

Following the banquet, an outstanding team highlight video produced by USF assistant coach was shown.

"Ki did another outstanding job on the highlight video. It captured some great memories of a successful season," Nelson said.

USF will celebrate its 30th season of volleyball in the upcoming 2006 campaign.
