2007 Volleyball Schedule Announced

Moraga, CA- Third year head volleyball coach Rob Browning has announced the schedule for the 2007 season. Saint Mary's will play 28 games which includes three tournaments and 11 home matches.

The 2007 Gaels will begin their season by traveling to the University of Arizona to participate in a three game tournament. The Gaels start off against Eastern Washington and Utah State, and then finish up the tournament against host school Arizona.

Next on the schedule for the Gaels are two single game road trips against CSU Bakersfield and Fresno State.

The next tournament the Gaels will participate in is the highest level competitors of their pre-season matches. The team will travel to Stanford University to compete against three teams whom participated in the 2006 NCAA tournament, Stanford, Brigham Young, and Cal Poly. This is the third consecutive year that the Gaels have participated in the Stanford Invitational.

Next on the agenda for the Gaels is a six game home stand. The Gaels will host their first home match of the year in McKeon Pavilion against UC Santa Barbara. That same weekend UC Davis will travel to Moraga to compete against the Gaels. Continuing at home the Gaels will host two more matches, versus Cornell and CSU Bakersfield. These two matches wrap up the Gaels pre-season, leading them into West Coast Conference play.

Saint Mary's will host the first round of West Coast Conference play against Gonzaga and Portland on September 27 and 29. Then the Gaels will travel to Bay Area rival San Francisco on October 4. A tough road trip is up next with Saint Mary's traveling to San Diego and Santa Clara. The Gaels will face the 2006 West Coast Conference champions San Diego on October 6 and then head back up north to compete against another Bay Area rival, Santa Clara on October 12.Back at home the Gaels will play Loyola Marymount on October 18 and Pepperdine on October 20.

The Gaels will begin the second round of West Coast Conference play in the Northwest against Portland and Gonzaga on October 25 and 27. San Diego and San Francisco are the next competitors the Gaels will face at McKeon Pavilion on November 1 and 3. The Gaels will wrap up their home appearances against Santa Clara on November 9. West Coast Conference play ends for the Gaels while competing in southern California against Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount on November 15 and 17.

Saint Mary's will finish the regular season in a tournament hosted by the University of Pacific. The tournament will begin for the Gaels against Cincinnati on November 23, and the next opponent is TBA.
