Volleyball Recruiting Class Given High Honors

July 21, 2006

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's volleyball team is looking forward to the addition of four players for the 2006 season. These four players will likely make an immediate impact on the team and were named `High Honorable Mention' for incoming freshman classes by prepvolleyball.com.

The national recognition is the first honor received by the Gaels when it comes to recruiting.

The Gaels graduated one senior last year in Kaui Salzman. Saint Mary's will look to make up for the loss of Salzman with the incoming class of 2006. Megan Burton, Alita Fisher, Lauren Jaeckel and Alison McCarty all look to make a noticeable impression in a Gael uniform.

"We are very pleased with the incoming class," Head Coach Rob Browning said. "We were lucky to find ourselves with four very good players who will have an immediate impact on our team."

Saint Mary's class was named to the `High Honorable Mention' list along with West Coast Conference rival Loyola Marymount. Pepperdine's class received a No. 7 rank and Santa Clara landed a rank of 17. Portland was named to the `Honorable Mention' list to round out the top WCC recruiting classes.
