SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released its 2014 Preseason Top-25 Poll and a pair of West Coast Conference programs cracked the poll. BYU enters the upcoming season ranked No. 9, while defending league champion San Diego is No. 14 as announced Monday.

BYU finished the season ranked No. 13 last year after reaching the regional semifinals of the 2013 NCAA tournament for the second-consecutive year. The Cougars went 24-7 overall and 15-3 in West Coast Conference play.

San Diego is coming off a historic season, in which they captured the program's ninth West Coast Conference championship, and the team made its third trip to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The Toreros started strong, defeating four consecutive top-20 opponents, highlighted up a 3-1 upending of then No. 1 ranked USC in the home opener. USD then shot up to No. 2 in the national polls, the highest ranking for any team at USD in the division I era. San Diego spent a majority of the season ranked in the top-10, including a program-high of No. 2 after defeating the Women of Troy.
