WCC Announces Volleyball Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- The West Coast Conference has announced its women's volleyball Player of the Week award-winner for September 5, 2011.

MISSY WHITE, RJR, S, SAINT MARY'S
Missy White was instrumental in the Gaels going 2-1 last week, including a perfect 2-0 in the Stanford Invitational that included wins over No. 18 Duke and Notre Dame. For the week, she averaged 13.25 assists per set, recording three-straight matches with over 50 assists to finish with 159 on the week. She also averaged 2.58 digs per set, recording 31 digs on the week with 12 kills and six total blocks. Against Cal Poly, she recorded her second double-double of the year with a career-high 57 assists and 11 digs. In the upset over No. 18 Duke, she finished the night with five kills on eightattempts with 52 assists and two aces. In the straight-sets win over Notre Dame, White finished with her fourth double-double of the year, recording 50 assists and 11 digs. The 50 assists are tied for fifth most in SMC history for a three-set match. For her efforts, White was named to the Stanford Invitational All-Tournament Team.
