WCC Player of the Week
Rubenstein earned her second tournament MVP award in as many weekends as she led Pepperdine to three wins and the championship of the Oregon State Asics Classic. She averaged 5.17 kills along with a .359 hitting percentage (62-16-128) and had totals of 72.0 points (6.00), 25 digs (2.08), nine blocks (0.75) and five service aces (0.42). Along with leading the conference, Rubenstein's 5.14 kills per game ranks her No. 1 in the country. She is also second among league leaders in service aces with nine for the season.

Two WCC Teams Ranked Among The Nation's Best
Two West Coast Conference women's volleyball teams are ranked in national polls. The University of San Diego is ranked No. 20 in the CSTV/AVCA Coaches Poll, while Pepperdine University is ranked No. 13 in the Volleyball Magazine Poll and just recently broke into the top 25 CSTV/AVCA Poll at No. 24.

National Leaders Among the WCC
Several players in the WCC rank among the nation's best in several categories. Notable leaders are Kapua Kamana'o (SMC) and Jessica Nyrop (USD) who are third and fifth in assists per game and Julie Rubenstein (PEP) and Amy DeGroot (USD) are first and 10th in kills per game. As a team, San Diego ranks first in assists per game and second in kills per game.

The WCC welcomes back several players who are on pace to eclipse the 1,000 kill and dig mark.

  • The Bulldogs traveled to the Northwest Challenge where they went 1-2, losing to host Washington, beating Boise State, and losing to Portland State.

  • In the victory over Boise State, two Zags attained career highs. Paige Dillingham collected a career-high 26 digs, while Elaina Renius had a career-high 12 blocks. Dillingham's 26 digs are the most for a Bulldog in a single match since 2004 and Renius' 12 blocks were the most since 2005.

  • Renius currently leads the conference in total blocks with 37.0

  • Dillingham currently leads the conference in total digs with 102.

  • This week, Gonzaga faces Washington State (9/10) before hosting the Gonzaga Tournament, where it will play UTEP (9/12), San Diego State (9/13), and Weber State (9/13).

  • The Lions went 2-1 at the Middle Tennessee Tournament, beating Lipscomb and Appalachian State, before losing to No. 15 Mid. Tennessee.

  • Loyola Marymount currently leads the conference in digs per game at 15.38 and is second in service aces per game at 1.48.

  • The Lions have three players on league top three lists: Emily Day currently ranks third in the conference in kills per game at 4.19, Megan Nash is second in the league in hitting percentage at .418, and Renne Horton is tied for third in service aces with eight.

  • Day ranks 18th in the country in kills average, while Nash is 24th in hitting percentage.

  • This week, the Lions host Ohio State (9/10) before hosting the LMU Tournament where they will face Pittsburgh (9/12), San Jose State (9/13), and UC Irvine (9/13).

  • Pepperdine went undefeated at the Oregon State Asics Classic where it beat No. 17 Colorado State, Pacific, and host Oregon State.

  • For the second straight week Julie Rubenstein earned WCC Player of the Week honors as well as Tournament MVP. Over the weekend, Rubenstein led the WCC in kills at 5.17 kpg, while hitting .359.

  • Two other Waves made the all-tournament team in Kiah Fiers, who averaged 11.3 apg for the tournament, and Rachel Lumsden, who averaged 3.4 kpg and 2.4 dpg.

  • The Waves (6-0) are off to their best start since 2000 when they started 9-0.

  • This week, the Waves head to the Nevada AT&T Invitational where they will face UC Davis (9/12), Missouri (9/13), and host Nevada (9/13).

  • Portland went 1-3 at the Nike Portland Invitational losing to Arizona State, Kansas State, and UC Irvine, before beating South Florida.

  • Jessica Clemens and Ashley Grayson both made the all-tournament team. Clemens had a triple double in the win against South Florida with 15 kills, 11 digs, and 10 aces, while Grayson matched her career high with 21 kills. Clemens' 10 aces set a new school record for aces in a single match.

  • Clemens currently leads the conference in service aces with 15 of the team's 34.

  • The win against South Florida was the first home win for first year Head Coach Joe Houck.

  • This week, the Pilots head to the Portland State Volleyball Showcase where they will face host Portland State (9/11), Seattle University (9/12), Oregon State, (9/13), and UC Riverside (9/13).

  • The Gaels went undefeated at the Sac. State Invitational beating San Jose State, Cal State Northridge, and host Sacramento State.

  • Saint Mary's had four players on the all-tournament team: OH Taylor Groess, MB Shannon Lowell, S Kapua Kamana'o and OH Megan York, who also captured the tournament MVP award for the second straight week.

  • Saint Mary's boasts two conference leaders with Megan Burton ranked first in hitting percentage with .434 and Kamana'o leading the league in assists with 265.

  • The Gaels (6-0) are off to their best start since 2004 when they started 9-0.

  • This week, the Gaels play in Hawaii at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational where they will face host Hawaii (9/11), Washington (9/12), and Pacific (9/13).

  • The Toreros went 2-1 at the Holiday Inn Trojan Invitational, beating Oklahoma and Hofstra before losing to host No. 7 USC.

  • Jessica Nyrop and Amy DeGroot were both named to the all-tournament team.

  • San Diego has three players who rank in the top two in the conference top 10 lists. Nyrop is second in assists average with 11.94 apg, DeGroot is second in kills average with 4.58 kpg, and Andrea Czaszi leads the conference in digs average with 4.42 dpg.

  • The Toreros lead the conference in hitting percentage (.292), assists per game (14.05 apg), and kills average (15.16).

  • This week, the Toreros host the USD Tournament and will face Cal State Fullerton (9/12), Southern Mississippi (9/13), and Texas A&M (9/13).

  • The Dons went undefeated as they hosted the Asics/Powerade Challenge beating UCSB, UT-Arlington, and Utah State.

  • The Dons had three players make the all-tournament team in Alix Gombos, Sarah Mandala, and Carly Babin, who also won the tournament MVP award, which is the second straight year she has done so and the first repeat winner in the tournament's history.

  • Over the tournament, Babin averaged 3.0 kills on an impressive .519 hitting percentage and currently ranks third overall in the conference in hitting at .395.

  • San Francisco leads the conference in blocks at 2.32 bpg.

  • This week, the Dons host the Asics/Coca-Cola Challenge and will face Sacramento State (9/12), Villanova (9/13), and Miami (9/13).

  • Santa Clara went undefeated at the Sheraton Four Points Invitatonal, beating host Arizona, Texas Tech, and Texas State.

  • Over the weekend, Anna Cmaylo reached the 1,000 career kill mark and finished with 1,015 kills after the tournament.

  • The Broncos lead the conference in service aces with 39 and have three of the top six players in service aces in the league.

  • Taylor O'Brien tied a career high in digs with 15 in the match against Texas State, which was also the match high.

  • This week, the Broncos head to the Stanford Invitational where they will face UCSB (9/11), New Mexico State (9/12), and host Stanford (9/13).
