WCC Volleyball Enters Last Week of Play Before Conference Season

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- West Coast Conference women's volleyball will continue on to its fourth week of play on Tuesday, September 11 with two non-conference matches. San Francisco will travel to UC Davis for a 7:00 PM (PT) match, while Portland will host Washington at the same hour.   • After winning the Nike Invitational with three straight sweeps at home, the No. 15 Cougars (9-0) are enjoying their highest ranking since 2007, when they finished the season at No. 12.

  • No. 18 Pepperdine has a tough week ahead as the Waves face three ranked opponents in No. 2 UCLA, No. 11 Florida State and No. 21 Ohio State. Wednesday's match between Pepperdine and UCLA will air live on the Pac-12 Network at 7:00 PM PT.

  • San Francisco won the 2012 Asics Powerade Challenge with a perfect 3-0 record, winning nine of 10 total sets across three matches. The Dons improve to 7-3 overall.

  • San Diego jumped up to No. 16 in the AVCA poll after posting a 2-1 record at the USC Tournament. The Toreros dropped a 3-2 decision to No. 5 USC, then bounced back with a 3-2 win over Notre Dame and a 3-0 sweep over Cal Poly. Against the Trojans, senior OH Carrie Baird tallied 16 kills and 14 digs for a double-double.

  • Loyola Marymount junior Kathleen Luft was named to the All-Tournament Team after tallying 57 kills and a .321 hitting percentage to help LMU to a 2-1 record at the High Point Invitational. Luft also posted a pair of double-doubles on the weekend.

  • Gonzaga redshirt freshman Savannah Blinn finished the weekend with 31 kills, 10 aces and 16 digs to be named on the all-tournament team for her third consecutive time. Blinn currently leads the WCC in aces with 21.

  • BYU junior Jennifer Hamson was named the WCC Player of the Week for the second week this season. Hamson named MVP of the BYU Nike Invitational, her third honor in as many weeks. Hamson leads her team and the West Coast Conference with 138 kills on the season at 4.45 kills per set.
