Moraga, Ca - Saint Mary's womens volleyball is scheduled to match up against the Alumni on Saturday September 15 at 5:00 P.M. The 2007 season marks the third consecutive year that the match has taken place, with the current Gaels defeating the Alumni in the past two appearances.
Leslie Grassl, formerly Leslie McKinley, was a member of the Gaels squad from 1990-1993 and currently holds numerous records in Saint Mary's history. Grassl's records have withheld the years, holding the record in most matches played in a career, with 121, most kills in a career, with 1,449, most attempts in a match, with 93, and most attempts in a career, with 4,029. Grassl also ranks second in career aces with 124, and sixth in digs with 1002.
Lindsey Bogason graduated from Saint Mary's in 2004 and participated as a Gael from 2001-2004. Bogason was named to the WCC Hororable Mention team in 2004, and 2002. In 2003 Bogason led the Gaels to their first ever NCAA appearance and 2004 guided Saint Mary's to the Sweet Sixteen. Bogason ranks fourth in career kills, with 1,131, fifth in career attacks, with 3,101, fifth in career block assists, with 277, and seventh in total career blocks, with 294. Bogason looks to continue her career overseas, as she plans to participate in a European tour this winter.
Mandy Bible is a 2007 graduate from Saint Mary's college and was a member of the Gaels from 2003-2006. Bible holds the present record in assists in a season, with 1,520, assists in a career, with 5,362, assist average in a season, 12.98, assist average in a career, with 12.47, service aces in a career, with 124. Bible also ranks second in block assists in a career with 400 and third in total blocks in a career with 425. Bible participated in three NCAA tournaments with the Gaels, including a Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2004. Bible was named three times to the WCC First Team, from 2004-2006.
Cassandra Kolkka is another returnee from the 2006 Gael squad. Kolkka was a starter for the Gaels from 2003-2006 and was a key component to the Gaels three NCAA appearances. Kolkka's name is listed throughout the Gael record books in many different categories, as she was strong in every aspect of the game. She currently holds the record in aces in a season, with 43 in 2005, second in aces per game in a season, with 0.43 in 2005, fourth and sixth in digs in a season with 401 and 397 in 2003 and 2004 respectively, third in service aces in a career, with 108, second in digs in a career, with 1,298, and fourth in digs per game in a career, with 3.24. Kolkka was named to the WCC Honorable Mention team in 2004 and 2005.
Christina Kirk returns from the 2006 Gael squad, playing for Saint Mary's from 2003-2006. Kirk was named to the WCC First Team following the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Kirk led the WCC in blocks in 2005 with 180 and ranked second in the nation in blocks per game, with 1.84. Kirk holds the present record in block assists in a season, with 167, total blocks in a season, with 180, and blocks per game in a season, with 1.84. Kirk also ranks seventh in aces in a season with 39 and third in blocks in a career with 358. Kirk was a member of all three NCAA tournament teams.
Meg Herr, formerly Meg Hauser, participated for the Gaels from 1999-2002. Herr played in 83 games as an outside hitter in 2001, leading the team in service aces with 29. Herr had a stellar season for the Gaels in her second year, playing in 89 games and totaling 210 digs, 55 kills, and 23 assists.
Rachel Parker participated for the Gaels from 1994-1996.
