SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- The West Coast Conference has named its Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for September 17, 2012.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: JAZMINE OROZCO, PEPPERDINE, JUNIOR, OH
Pepperdine junior outside hitter Jazmine Orozco is the WCC Player of the Week for September 17. Orozco led the No. 18 Waves to wins over No. 11 Florida State and No. 21 Ohio State on Friday afternoon. She also produced a team-high 12 kills while hitting .417 in a loss at No. 2 UCLA on Wednesday.
Orozco tallied a double-double in both of the wins on Friday. She tallied a team-high 12 putaways against the Seminoles, to go along with her 10 digs. In the follow-up contest, the junior paced the Waves in both kills and digs with 13 and 14, respectively.
During the final match of the weekend, Orozco recorded her third double-double of the weekend - fifth of the season - against the tournament host Houston. She was credited with 14 kills and 11 digs to bring her week averages to 4.25 kill/set and 3.33 kills/set. For her efforts, Orozco was the named the tournament's MVP.
