San Bruno, Calif. - WCC Live will be back on the air on Wednesday Sep.23rd for its second show revolving around the Fall sports season. Just like the first show, this episode will feature players and coaches from around the league, with the opportunity for fans to call in or email questions.
Lining up for the next show will be Volleyball Head Coach Rob Browning and Megan Burton from Saint Mary's, Volleyball Head Coach Nina Matthies from Pepperdine, Women's Soccer Head Coach Jerry Smith and Jordan Angeli from Santa Clara, Portland women's soccer player Michelle Enyeart, and Men's Soccer Head Coach Paul Krumpe of Loyola Marymount.
Coach Browning has gotten the Gaels off to a fast start atop the WCC standings and has been led by senior Burton, who was one of three Gaels on this year's preseason All-Conference team.
Coach Matthies recently enjoyed her 500th win and has moved up to 25th on the all-time victories list among active coaches. She has had the program in the national rankings in three of the four weeks this season.
Coach Smith's squad has now won five straight, including three wins over nationally ranked opponents. Angeli was crucial in the win over No. 5 Notre Dame, netting the game-winner and being named MVP of the Santa Clara Classic in addition to sharing WCC Co-Player of the Week honors. The Broncos are now ranked No. 10 according to Soccer America.
Enyeart shared WCC Player of the Week honors with Angeli last week after recording her first career hat trick against then No. 11 Illinois and following that up with the game-winner against Miami. For her efforts, she was also named the National Player of the Week by TopDrawer Soccer, becoming the third Pilot in a row to garner that honor.
Coach Krumpe has the Lions in the national rankings for the first time since 2006 at No. 18 as they recently took down No. 5 Dartmouth and No. 6 UC Santa Barbara. He is now the fourth active WCC to pass the 100 wins mark and has the program off to its best start since 2006.
