Loyola Marymount's Kathleen Luft Named WCC Volleyball Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- The West Coast Conference has named its Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for September 23, 2013.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: KATHLEEN LUFT, LMU, SENIOR, OUTSIDE HITTER
Senior outside hitter Kathleen Luft guided LMU to a 2-0 record to start WCC play, including victories over San Francisco and Santa Clara. The native of Thousand Oaks, Calif. collected 35 kills over the two matches (4.38 per set) while hitting .380. She also posted a pair of aces in the match against Santa Clara, including one to force match point in the five-set victory over the Broncos. She then collected the match-winner as part of her season-high 23 kill performance on Saturday.

Luft collected 12 kills with just two errors on 25 swings (.400) in a sweep of San Francisco before notching the 23 kills with just three errors on 54 attacks (.370) against Santa Clara. She finished the week with eight total blocks, including three block assists against San Francisco and five more against the Broncos.
