SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Senior middle Hitter Laurel Abrahamson of the University of San Diego women's volleyball team has been tabbed as the West Coast Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Abrahamson, a native of Bloomington, Minn., helped guide the Toreros to a 2-0 record this past week with 3-1 wins over both cross-town rival San Diego State University and UC Irvine. Abrahamson averaged 3.50 kills per game on a .353 hitting percentage and tallied a team-high 10 blocks on the week. On the season, Abrahamson has 190 kills (3.88 kpg), is bolstering a team-best .378 attack percentage and also has a team-leading 55 blocks.
Abrahamson and the 15th-ranked Toreros will return to action later this afternoon as they host the University of New Mexico in a 7 p.m. non-conference match at USD's Jenny Craig Pavilion.
