SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Senior middle hitter Laurel Abrahamson of the 14th-ranked University of San Diego women's volleyball team has been tabbed as this week's West Coast Conference Player of the Week. This marks back-to-back weeks for Abrahamson taking home this honor, as well as three of the last four weeks.
Abrahamson helped lead the Toreros to a 2-0 record this past week with wins over the University of New Mexico and the University of San Francisco. In Monday's match against New Mexico, Abrahamson recorded 13 kills on 20 attempts, while only committing one attack error to post a .600 attack percentage. In Saturday's WCC opener, the 6-4 Bloomington, Minn. native led all players with 12 kills on 16 attempts, while only committing one attack error to post a match-best .688 attack percentage. For the week, Abrahamson posted 25 kills, had 10 blocks and hit for an impressive .639 clip.
Abrahamson and thee Toreros return to action on Thursday as they host Santa Clara University in a 8 p.m. televised match on ESPNU.
