No. 20 Pepperdine Remains Only Unbeaten Team in WCC Play

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- West Coast Conference women's volleyball continue conference play this week on Wednesday, October 5 with a televised match between Pepperdine and LMU on ESPNU.


  • Two conference matches will be nationally televisedthis week. The showdown between Southern Californiarivals Pepperdine and LMU will air Wednesday on ESPNU,while BYUtv will televise BYU's match against Santa Claraon Thursday.

  • Pepperdine remains the only unbeaten team in conferenceplay with a 3-0 record against WCC opponents Portland,Gonzaga and Saint Mary's. The Waves also remainranked at No. 20 in the AVCA Coaches Poll.

  • Portland snapped San Francisco's five match win streakwith a 3-2 victory at home. The Pilots were led by sophomoreoutside hitter Autumn Wedan, who posted a careerhigh16 kills. This is the third straight time Portland hasbeaten San Francisco.

  • San Diego moved up one spot to No. 17 after posting a2-0 record this past week to improve to 16-1 overall. TheToreros picked up 3-0 sweeps over non-conference opponentUC Irvine and WCC opponent BYU.

  • Entering the third week of conference play, two schools,LMU and Pepperdine, will host "DigPink" matches to promotebreast cancer awareness and education.

  • The LMU-PEP matchup is part of the Wells Fargo PCH CupSeries, an annual scorecard for the NCAA-sponsored athleticcontests between the two longtime crosstown rivals.
