SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference has named its Volleyball Player of the Week for October 6, 2014.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - SAVANNAH BLINN, JR., OH - GONZAGA
Junior outside hitter Savannah Blinn turned in a strong weekend, leading Gonzaga to back-to-back 3-1 wins against Pepperdine and No. 22 Loyola Marymount. For the week, she hit .379 witha total of 46 kills to average 5.75 per set. She racked up 17 kills against Pepperdine, and then registered 29 kills against the Lions on Saturday.
In addition, Blinn also was a force on defense, notching three blocks against the Waves and five (including one solo) against the Lions. The back-to-back wins marked the first time in program history that Gonzaga has beaten Pepperdine and LMU on the same weekend. Blinn turned in a strong performance Tuesday at No. 24 San Diego in a five-set setback. Blinn recorded a match-high 27 kills on .370 attacking to go along with six digs and three blocks against the Toreros.
