Waves Looking to get Back on Track against San Francisco

Oct. 11, 2006

Malibu, Calif. - The San Francisco Dons will be a sight for sore eyes Thursday night for the Pepperdine women's volleyball team. After suffering its third consecutive loss of the season Tuesday night, the Waves will look to get back on the right track against a team they hold a 41-1 all-time record against in USF.

Pepperdine (6-9, 2-2 West Coast Conference) will have to right the ship in a hurry if it is to keep its post-season hopes alive, needing eight wins in the final 12 matches just to finish the season with a winning record.

San Francisco (16-4, 0-3 WCC) has never defeated the Waves in Malibu, having won just six games in 21 meetings. The Dons have been swept in eight of their last 10 trips to Firestone Fieldhouse, a trend Pepperdine hopes to continue in 2006.

The Waves will also host Saint Mary's (7-7, 2-1 WCC) this weekend as the Gaels head to Malibu for a 1 p.m. (PDT) first serve Saturday. Pepperdine is 34-4 all-time against SMC, including an 18-1 mark at home.

The two-match home stand is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. against the Dons.
