MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine sophomore Cassi Chamberlain has been selected as West Coast Conference (WCC) volleyball Player of the Week announced by the league office Monday morning.
Chamberlain (Lakewood, Calif.) led Pepperdine to a pair of conference sweeps last week as the Waves moved into a second place tie in the conference standings. For the weekend, she hit at a team-leading .486 clip with 19 kills, nine blocks and eight digs. Her .380 hitting percentage against conference opponents is the best mark in the WCC.
The 6-foot-3 Chamberlain turned in her second double-digit kill match of the season in a 10-kill, one-error performance against Saint Mary's on Sunday. Against San Francisco, she hit .471 with nine kills and four blocks.
This marks the first Player of the Week honor for Pepperdine this season and first since Katy Daly earned the conference's weekly honor on Nov. 7, 2005.
Pepperdine (8-9, 4-2 WCC) will wrap up the first half of conference play this week when it travels to Loyola Marymount on Thursday for a 7 p.m. first serve.
