SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- The West Coast Conference has named its Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for October 21, 2013.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: VALENTINA ZALOZNIK, SAN FRANCISCO, JUNIOR, MIDDLE BLOCKER
San Francisco junior middle blocker Valentina Zaloznik continues to be a leading force on the court as she helped the Dons to two wins on the week over Bay Area foes. In Thursday's victory against Saint Mary's, she powered down 11 kills on .304 hitting in the four-set match.
The highlight of the week came as the junior from Ljubno ob Savinji finished with an eye-popping 19 kills on .516 hitting to take down new conference member Pacific in five. She added eight total blocks, one solo, and eight digs and two service aces in USF's first meeting with the Tigers since 2005.
Zaloznik stands in 18th on the all-time USF kills list after just three seasons after passing Megan Morse (1991-94) in the record books over the weekend.
The Dons are riding a three-match home winning streak for the first time since 2009 as USF looks to extend it to four with a Friday meeting with Santa Clara.
Also nominated: Whitney Young, BYU; Kathleen Luft, LMU; Kat Schulz, PAC; Chloe Ferrari, USD
