Santa Clara's Dana Knudsen Named WCC Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- The West Coast Conference has announced its women's volleyball Player of the Week award-winner for October 24, 2011.

DANA KNUDSEN, SANTA CLARA, JUNIOR, MIDDLE BLOCKER
Shoring up the middle with senior captain Tanya Schmidt out with a high ankle sprain for 4 weeks, middle blocker Dana Knudsen stepped up her play and leadership this week. Knudsen hit .548 this week in wins versus Loyola Marymount and cross-bay rival San Francisco. She had just three errors on 42 attempts this week with 26 kills and led the team with 3.71 kpg and also collected 0.57 bpg.

Against Loyola Marymount, Knudsen hit .667 in the Broncos' 3-0 win and then hit .481 in the 3-1 win over San Francisco. Her 16 kills versus the Dons served as a season-best for the junior.
