Waves Still On a Roll With Wins in WCC Matches

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- West Coast Conference women's volleyball will continue conference play this week in a nationally-televised match between Saint Mary's and San Diego on Wednesday, October 26.


  • No. 18 Pepperdine extended its win streak to nine byending No. 17 San Diego's nine-match winning streak witha sweep at Firestone Fieldhouse. With the 25-20, 25-17,25-17 victory, the Waves improve to 9-0 in WCC play and15-5 overall, while the Toreros fall to 7-2 in the WCC and22-2 overall.

  • For the second time in as many matches, Pepperdinesenior Lilla Frederick reached a significant career milestone.With a tied-for-season-best 21 digs versus BYU, theoutside hitter surpassed the 1,000 career digs benchmark,becoming just the ninth Wave to achieve the feat.

  • Santa Clara picked up two conference wins with victoriesover LMU and San Francisco. Against the Dons, theBroncos had four hitters with double-digit kills, led byWCC Player of the Week Dana Knudsen, who tallied 16kills and a .481 clip.

  • Saint Mary's split matches over the past week with awin at San Francisco and a close 3-2 loss at home againstLMU. Sophomore outside hitter Jordan Shaw posted backto-back career-nights for the Gaels, recording 38 kills,averaging 4.22 kills per set while hitting a team-high .413.She also recorded 21 digs and averaged 2.33 digs per set.

  • No. 17 San Diego will host Saint Mary's on Wednesday ina nationally-televised match on ESPNU at 7 p.m. It is alsoone of two DigPink matches left this October.
