WCC Volleyball Player of the Week
SCU's Caroline Walters Earns Weekly Honor
Caroline Walters tallied 34 digs this weekend and made integral plays to help SCU to a 2-0 week with back-to-back victories over San Francisco and then-No. 15 San Diego. Walters shattered both the Santa Clara and WCC records by recording 1,869 career digs. This season, Walters averages 4.49 digs per game and has dished out 18 service aces. She has collected double-digit digs in all but three matches this year. Walters ranks first on the career dig average list with 4.61 per game and holds the No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 spots in single season dig average, and the No. 3-4 and No. 10 spots in single season digs.

Gonzaga Bulldogs (16-11 / 4-7 WCC)
-The Zags dropped two matches last weekend; an 0-3 decision to Pepperdine and a close 3-2 contest to Loyola Marymount.
-Senior Briawna Mueller became the Bulldog career leader in block assists after she finished with seven against the Lions. Mueller broke the 17-year record of 408 block assists held by Lisa Petticord (1987-1990) and now has 411 total block assists to her credit.
-Sophomore Michelle Boevers led the Zags with a team-high 18 kills, while senior Becky Jones had a double-double of 17 kills and 15 digs in the loss to LMU.
-Elaina Reinus and Layne Brosky also chipped in double-digit kills with 14 and 10, respectively.
-The Zags make their final WCC road trip of the season as they face Northwest rival, Portland (11/10).
Loyola Marymount (13-10 / 5-5 WCC)
-The Lions went 2-0 last weekend with a 3-2 win over Gonzaga and a sweep of Portland.
-Heather Hughes recorded a triple-double against the Zags with 19 kills, 11 assists and 11 digs.
-Emily Day recorded her 13th double-double of the season with 18 kills and 15 digs on the night.
-Christianna Reneau collected a match-high 13 kills while hitting .417 against the Pilots, including her 1,000th career kill. Reneau becomes just the 10th player in LMU history to reach the 1,000-kill plateau, joining teammate Heather Hughes at 1,599 career kills.
-The Lions travel to San Diego (11/8) and San Francisco (11/10) as they look to move further up in the WCC standings.
Pepperdine Waves (15-7 / 7-3 WCC)
-Pepperdine picked up sweeps over visiting Gonzaga and Portland last weekend, moving the Waves into a second place tie with San Diego in the conference standings.
-Senior Chevy Crum registered 43 assists and four kills in only her fourth match of the year against the Pilots.
-Rachel Lumsden returned to action last weekend and tallied 17 kills behind a .433 hitting percentage and registered seven digs against the Zags.
-Julie Rubenstein notched a team-best 19 kills and eight digs, while Kiah Fiers set a season-high for assists in a three-game match with 48.
-The Waves head to San Francisco (11/8) to face the Dons before returning to Southern California for a match at San Diego (11/10).
Portland Pilots (7-18 / 0-11 WCC)
-The Pilots suffered an 0-2 record last weekend, falling to Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount.
-Jessica Clemens led the Pilots against the Waves with 11 kills and two service aces. The freshman picked up her 13th double-double of the season with 11 kills and 10 digs the following match against the Lions.
-Senior Kara Pein tallied 24 assists against the Lions. Pein ranks seventh in the WCC with 9.84 assists per game.
-Senior Nicole Thometz boasted a .500 hitting percentage in the Pilots effort against LMU.
-The Pilots will finish out their season at home and welcome the Gonzaga Bulldogs to the Chiles Center this weekend (11/10).
Saint Mary's Gaels (14-9 / 5-6 WCC)
-Saint Mary's posted a 1-1 record at home last weekend, falling to then-#15 San Diego and rallying to defeat San Francisco in a 3-2 thriller.
-Freshman middle blocker Shannon Lowell recorded a team-high 13 kills, while posting a .321 hitting percentage against the Toreros.
-Sophomore Lauren Jaeckel posted 16 kills on a .438 hitting percentage in the win over San Francisco.
-Megan York also tallied 16 kills against the Dons, and added 13 digs, three blocks and one service ace.
-The Gaels play their final home match of the season Friday, November 9th against Bay Area WCC rival, Santa Clara.
San Diego Toreros (17-7 / 7-3 WCC)
-The Toreros fell to #19 in the polls after posting a 1-1 record last weekend with a sweep at Saint Mary's and a 3-1 loss at Santa Clara.
-Amy DeGroot recorded her team-leading 12th double-double of the season with a match-high 15 kills and 10 digs against the Gaels. DeGroot posted her 13th double-double the following match against the Broncos, with 12 kills and 12 digs.
-Erin Wiskar recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 digs and added in 10 kills, while Jessica Nyrop recorded her seventh with a match-best 43 assists and 11 digs at Saint Mary's.
-San Diego will host Loyola Marymount (11/8) and Pepperdine (11/10) this weekend for their final home matches of the season.
San Francisco Dons (16-11 / 4-6 WCC)
-The Dons dropped to 4-6 in WCC play after falling to Bay Area rivals Saint Mary's and Santa Clara last weekend.
-Junior setter Darcy Carroll dished out 27 assists, while sophomore libero Haley Carroll tallied a team-high 17 digs with a pair of aces in Santa Clara.
-Junior outside hitter Addie Webster tallied a team-high 15 kills on a .343 hitting percentage and collected seven digs against the Broncos.
-Senior outside hitter Kristin Hasselberg led the Dons with 20 kills and six digs in the 1-3 loss to the Gaels.
-The Dons host Pepperdine (11/8) and Loyola Marymount (11/10) this weekend, for their final two home matches of the season.
Santa Clara Broncos (18-9 / 10-1 WCC)
-The Broncos are now on a seven-match winning streak and have retained sole possesion of first place in the WCC after defeating San Francisco and then-#15 San Diego.
-Lindsy Evans registered 16 kills on a .393 hitting percentage, while junior Brittany Lowe earned a double-double with 17 kills and 11 digs in the 3-1 win over the Dons.
-Setter Crystal Matich dished out a match-high 52 assists and collected 11 digs also against San Francisco.
-Outside hitter Krista Kelley registered match-highs with 22 kills and three service aces and tied the team-best three total blocks against the Toreros.
-Santa Clara travels for a single match this weekend against Saint Mary's (11/9).
