SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- The West Coast Conference is pleased to announce its October Volleyball Player of the Month, Pepperdine's Jazmine Orozco.
WCC WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE MONTH
JAZMINE OROZCO, PEPPERDINE, JUNIOR, OUTSIDE HITTER
Junior Jazmine Orozco delivered impressive performances night after night during the month of October and led the Pepperdine women's volleyball team to a 7-1 record. Orozco paced the Waves with 4.28 kills/set.
Orozco surpassed the double-digit plateau in kill in seven of the eight matches in October. Orozco was solid on defense as well, picking up 10 or more digs on five occasions for a team-high five double-doubles.
The outside hitter reached the 20+ kill milestone twice, including a career-high 27-kill performance against Loyola Marymount. To date, 27 kills in a single match is the most by any player in the West Coast Conference this season. She was later honored as the WCC Player of the Week for her efforts.
Not only did Orozco take the most swings out of any Wave, but she also maintained a high hitting percentage the entire month. After 287 attempts, Orozco registered 124 kills and just 31 errors for a .324 clip.
