SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Four West Coast Conference volleyball players, led by San Diego's Carrie Baird who claimed first team honors, have earned Academic All-District distinctions, CoSIDA announced on Thursday, November 8. Lauren Corp of Saint Mary's, Kylie Edinger of Gonzaga, and Valentina Zaloznik of San Francisco, all of who received second team honors, joined Baird in earning All-District awards.
Baird, a senior from Greenwood Village, Colo. maintains a 3.87 GPA while double majoring in Spanish and Business Administration. Baird ranks fourth for San Diego in kills with 221 (2.46 kps), while also recording 221 digs, good for second best on the team.
Corp, a senior from Villa park, Calif. preserves a 3.40 GPA and will graduate with a degree in Politics. On the court this season, Corp has been one of Saint Mary's most consistent players with 2.79 kills per set while hitting at a .295 clip. She enters the week with 1,212 career kills, which ranks third in school history.
Edinger, a two-time Second Team All-District recipient, is a senior from Billings, Mont. and currently holds a 3.91 GPA in Human Physiology. Edinger has battled injuries most of the season for the Bulldogs, but has averaged 1.96 kills-per-set with a .286 killing percentage. Defensively she averages 0.83 blocks-per-set with 58 total.
Zaloznik, a sophomore from Ljubno ob Savinji, Slovenia, maintains a 3.96 grade point average while majoring in Business Administration. This season, she leads the Dons with a .326 attack percentage and 57 total blocks for the Dons. Zaloznik has posted 207 kills with a 2.3 kills per set average and 21 service aces on the season.
