SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- The 2012 West Coast Conference title is on the line with a matchup between BYU and San Diego on Saturday. If the Cougars secure first place, it will be their first ever WCC title, while the Toreros have won seven WCC Championships in their history with the WCC. This will be the final week of conference play with one more week of non-conference play for some schools before closing out the 2012 regular season.

• BYU and San Diego are the only WCC teams ranked in the latest AVCA coaches poll. BYU enters the week ranked No. 13 after improving its record to 24-2 overall and 12-2 in the WCC with a sweep over Santa Clara, while San Diego stands at No. 18 after defeating Northwest opponents Gonzaga and Portland on the road.

• Heading into the final week of the regular season, BYU and San Diego are currently ranked first and second in the WCC. BYU will need to beat Pepperdine on Thursday for at least a share of the conference title and will need to defeat San Diego on the road to take home the conference crown.

• San Diego is just .5 matches back of BYU with one conference match left to play. If BYU loses to Pepperdine and San Diego defeats BYU, the Toreros will be the outright 2012 WCC volleyball champions. San Diego is currently 3-2 all-time against BYU and 0-1 against the Cougars this season.

• Saint Mary's moved into sole possession of third place after picking up two wins on the road against Portland and Gonzaga. The Gaels currently lead the conference in kills (14.63 kps), assists (13.91 aps), and service aces (136 total) in regular season play.

• Fourth place Santa Clara will host Loyola Marymount on Thursday. The Lions defeated the Broncos, 3-0, in their previous meeting this season at the Gersten Pavilion.

• Six West Coast Conference teams are ranked in the top 50 in the latest NCAA Division I women's volleyball RPI report.

• Loyola Marymount defeated then-ranked No. 24 Pepperdine, 3-1, at home to share fifth place in the conference standings. The Lions were led by WCC Player of the Week Kathleen Luft, who tallied 41 kills (4.56 per set) while hitting .330 over two matches. Luft was also named Co-WCC Player of the Month last September.

• Pepperdine dropped out of the AVCA rankings after dropping three straight conference matches to San Diego, Loyola Marymount and San Francisco. The Waves are still receiving votes, however, along with Saint Mary's.

• Saint Mary's and San Diego each received 59 points and four first place votes to share the top spot in the preseason poll. BYU was picked to finish fourth behind Pepperdine.
