SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- The West Coast Conference has announced its women's volleyball Player of the Week award-winner for November 14, 2011.
SAMANTHA TINSLEY, SAINT MARY'S, FRESHMAN, OUTSIDE HITTER
Saint Mary's freshman outside hitter Samantha Tinsley is the WCC Volleyball Player of the Week. Tinsley helped the Gaels defeat no. 14 Pepperdine and BYU last week. The victory over the Waves was Pepperdine's first conference loss and SMC's fifth straight win. Tinsley tallied 20 kills, averaging 3.33 kills per set while hitting .545 with 10 total blocks.
Against the Cougars, Tinsley tallied 11 kills on 14 attempts with just two errors for a match-high .643 hitting percentage. She also added five digs, three total blocks and an ace.
Against Pepperdine, Tinsley finished the match with nine kills on 19 swings with no attack errors for a .474 hitting percentage. She also tallied two assists and seven digs with seven total blocks.
