SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego head women's volleyball coach Jennifer Petrie has announced that Jillian Wolpman has signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for the Toreros beginning in the fall of 2008.
Wolpman, a middle blocker from San Marcos, Texas, comes to USD after a stand-out career at San Marcos High School, where she was a four-year letter winner. She led her team in blocks and kills in 2005 and was the team's leading blocker in 2004 as well. She was also named to the USA V National Youth A2 Team in 2006 and was selected to the USA V National High Performance A2 team in 2004 and 2005. She was also a stand-out on the track team as she placed first in the district high jump.
"We are very excited to add Jillian to our program next fall. Her work ethic, athleticism and volleyball knowledge will immediately impact the success of our team," stated Petrie. "For a middle blocker, Jillian has great speed and agility; she will fit in to our offensive system nicely."
