Milo Tabbed Co-WCC Volleyball Player of the Week

Nov. 20, 2006

MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine senior middle blocker Sophia Milo was selected as the West Coast Conference (WCC) volleyball co-Player of the Week for matches of Nov. 13-19 announced by the league office Monday morning. She was joined by San Diego setter Jessica Nyrop.

A two-time All-WCC first team selection, Milo, ears the weekly honor for the second time in her career and first this season.

Milo hit at a team-high .519 clip with 16 kills and seven total blocks - one solo - in leading Pepperdine (15-10, 11-3 WCC) to a sweep over cross-town rival Loyola Marymount in the conference finale. With the victory, the Waves capped a perfect 7-0 league-home record, losing just one game along the way, and secured sole possession of second place in the conference standings.

The Portland, Ore. native previously earned the conference's top weekly accolade on October 17, 2005.

This marks the third time this season a Pepperdine student-athlete has been named volleyball POTW as Cassi Chamberlain and Rachel Lumsden. It is also the second time in as many years three Waves have been honored.

Pepperdine wraps up the 2006 regular season this week at No. 6 UCLA tonight (Monday) and at home against Dayton Wednesday night. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. and 5 p.m. PT, respectively.
