SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- Another year has gone by, and every WCC volleyball team still has not forgotten what it means to Dig Pink.
This past October, each WCC volleyball team hosted a Dig Pink match to promote breast cancer awareness. Some teams dressed their gyms up in pink. Some hosted community-wide events for fans, students and others to participate in. Some even pledged to reach out to local businesses to raise money to donate to the cause. All together, WCC volleyball raised over $11,400 to be donated to the Side-Out Foundation and other local breast cancer research organizations.
Funds donated to the Side-Out Foundation, the founders of the Dig Pink campaign whose goal is to unite volleyball players and coaches nationwide around furthering breast cancer awareness, education, and patient service, will be used for clinical trials with a focus on translational research.
Now that the conference season has come to an end, some teams look forward to the postseason as the fight for the cure still continues. Next season will serve as another opportunity for some great volleyball across the WCC and the chance to once again "Dig Pink" and make a difference in the lives of many.
