SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Loyola Marymount's Emily Day has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Day helped LMU finish the 2006 season with a 2-0 week.
The Lions' outside hitter put up some big numbers as she led LMU to two non-conference wins. Day averaged 5.43 kills and 4.29 digs per game, while hitting at a .364 clip.
She posted two statistical double-doubles, with 23 kills and 15 digs against Cal State Northridge Tuesday, and 15 kills and 15 digs in the 3-0 sweep of Dayton on Saturday.
The sophomore's selection marks the third week this season a Lion was named WCC Player of the Week. Junior Heather Hughes earned the Lions' two other selections earlier in the season. It is Day's second career selection.
Day and the Lions finished the season 19-12.
