Pepperdine Eyes Eighth Straight NCAA First Round Victory Friday Night

Pepperdine is making its 18th appearance in the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship Friday when it travels to Long Beach, Calif. for a scheduled 7 p.m. PT first serve against Long Beach State at The Walter Pyramid.

Pepperdine (16-11) picked up an at-large bid to this year's tournament after finishing second in the West Coast Conference. Long Beach State (25-5) also received an at-large bid after finishing second in the Big West Conference.

Hawaii (26-5) will face Oregon (17-11) at 5 p.m. in the first of two matches. The two advancing teams will meet at 7 p.m. on Saturday for the right to travel to the regional semi-finals in Honolulu, Hawaii the following weekend.

Pepperdine has advanced to the NCAA tournament in nine of last 10 years and has won its last seven first-round matches dating back to the 1998 season. During the Waves' current streak, the team has reached the regional semi-finals on six occasions, including each of its last four trips.
