WCC Announces 2014 Volleyball All-Academic Team

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference is pleased to announce the 2014 West Coast Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team. The group includes four student-athletes named to the all-academic squad for the second straight year and one whom captured 2014 Capital One Academic All-District 8 honors.

BYU sophomore middle blocker Amy Boswell earned Academic All-District 8 honors after posting a 3.92 GPA in Nursing. Pacific's Kat Schulz and San Diego's Alaysia Brown earned selection for the second straight year, while BYU's Tia Withers Welling and San Francisco's Valentina Zaloznik cap their careers with their third all-academic accolades.

This season, 19 nominated volleyball student-athletes posted a GPA of 3.50 or better while eight recorded a mark of 3.75 or higher.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
