Pepperdine Volleyball To Face Kansas State in NCAA Sweet 16

SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- 2011 West Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Champion Pepperdine continues its run in the NCAA Tournament and will face Kansas State in the Sweet 16 on Friday, December 9 at the NCAA Tournament Regional Semifinal inside the Stan Sheriff Center at 7:00 p.m. (PT). The winner will advance to the Elite Eight and will face either #1 USC or #3 Hawaii.


  • This is Pepperdine's 21st NCAA Tournament appearance,and first since the 2008 season. The Waves are 16-20 all-timeat the NCAA Tournament, reached the Sweet 16 onseven occasions and made an Elite Eight appearance in2002.

  • San Diego made its 15th appearance in the NCAA Tournamentafter recording the best regular season in programhistory at 27-4 but dropped a four-set match to #4 UCLAin the second round to end its 2011 campaign.

  • BYU's Jennifer Hamson, Pepperdine's Kim Hill and SanDiego's Chloe Ferrari garnered ACVA All-Region (Pacific)honors. Pepperdine's Kellie Woolever was an honorablemention.

  • Six Pepperdine players were awarded WCC postseasonhonors, while San Diego garnered five. Pepperdine's Kim Hillheadlined the list, becoming the Waves' eighth WCC Playerof the Year, while Samantha Cash was dubbed Freshman ofthe Year. Head coach Nina Matthies was voted WCC Coachof the Year for the 10th time in her tenure with the Waves.
