PROVO, Utah – Senior defendeSarah Chambers Gardner was named to the Academic All-District 8 First Team by CoSIDA for the second straight season on Thursday.

Gardner is majoring in chemical engineering and has a 3.90 GPA. Gardner has played in 15 games this season, starting four times. She also scored the game-winning goal against San Diego in the 83rd minute.

Gardner has been a WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll Gold Honors recipient each of her previous three seasons. Gardner was also on the WCC All-Academic Team in 2014 and a WCC All-Academic Team honorable mention in 2015.

Gardner will advance to the Academic All-America team ballot where first, second and third team honorees will be decided in November.

Junior midfielder Parkes Kendrick of Portland and sophomore midfielder Bri Visalli of Pepperdine both earned a spot on the All-District 8 Second Team. Kendrick holds a 4.0 GPA in Mathematics, while Visalli carries a 3.75 in Economics.

This is the fifth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA recognizes four teams - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-District Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools. Previously, CoSIDA recognized a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I); with the four teams, CoSIDA has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored.

The Division II and Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2015-16 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.

First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
