2016 WEST COAST CONFERENCE VOLLEYBALL STATS

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Tuesday marks the 2016 regular season finale for West Coast Conference Volleyball in what has been another exciting campaign. Both No. 10 BYU and No. 11 San Diego are vying for the 2016 regular season title and the league’s automatic NCAA berth. 

Tuesday Highlights
The Cougars play at Loyola Marymount tonight in a match carried live on ESPNU and WatchESPN. First serve is at 8:00 p.m. PT live from Gersten Pavilion. Pepperdine welcomes the Toreros up the PCH in Firestone Fieldhouse in another highly anticipated contest. First serve in Malibu is set for 7:00 p.m. PT and the match will be carried live on TheW.tv. 

WCC Volleyball Tiebreakers
Should BYU (15-2 WCC) and San Diego (15-2 WCC) volleyball be tied following the final match of the regular season, the following tiebreakers would be executed to determine the WCC automatic berth. 

  1. Head to head: BYU and San Diego split regular season meetings
  2. Sets won in head to head competition. San Diego and BYU each posted home sweeps.
  3. Total number of points scored in head to head competition.
    • BYU 20 23 23  |  25 25 27 = 143
    • USD 25 25 25 |  16 22 25 = 138
  4. BYU would secure automatic NCAA bid if both BYU and USD win AND if both teams lose since LMU (10-7) is higher in the conference standings than Pepperdine (6-11). 

Sole Possession of 2016 WCC Regular Season Championship

  1. BYU would win the automatic berth and sole possession of the WCC regular season title only with a win at LMU coupled by a San Diego loss at Pepperdine.
  2. San Diego would win the automatic berth and sole possession of the regular season WCC title only with a win at Pepperdine coupled by a BYU loss at LMU.
