SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference announced its 2016-17 women's basketball conference schedule on Wednesday. The race for the WCC regular season crown will be contested over a nine-week span, and consist of a double round-robin format. Conference play is slated to begin on Thursday, December 29, 2016 and will conclude on Saturday, February 25, 2016.
The 2015-16 season marked the third consecutive year that six WCC programs advanced to the postseason, led by NCAA Tournament appearances from BYU and San Francisco. Gonzaga, Saint Mary’s, San Diego and Santa Clara represented the conference in the WNIT
All 10 West Coast Conference teams open the 2016-17 women’s basketball season on December 29 with defending regular season champion BYU traveling to Santa Clara in not only the conference opener but also the first conference game of the Bill Carr era in Santa Clara.
A highlight in January includes a meeting between the regular season and tournament champions on Thursday, January 12 when the Cougars travel to The Hilltop to face San Francisco. The two teams meet again in Provo on Saturday, February 11.
The regular season culminates at the 2017 West Coast Conference Basketball Championships, which will take place from March 2-7 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
