WEST COAST CONFERENCE BASKETBALL QUICK HITS

  • Saint Mary’s senior guard Lauren Nicholson is the West Coast Conference Player of the Week. RELEASE
  • Through December 8, West Coast Conference teams own a 59.3% winning percentage vs. non-conference foes. Last week the WCC posted a 15-6 overall record. See page 2 for more details.
  • Four West Coast Conference programs earned a spot in this week’s CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 Poll and all cracked the top-10. Gonzaga checked in at No. 1 for the second straight week, followed by Saint Mary’s (4), San Diego (7) and BYU (9). Santa Clara is in the “Receiving Votes” category.
  • BYU senior All-American Lexi Rydalch ranks fifth among active Division I scoring leaders (1,940 points). Rydalch is in the top 10 in multiple active career offensive categories, including games (118/4th), field goals (652/7th), field goal attempts (1,518/5th), free throws (472/3rd) and free throw attempts (611/2nd).
  • Rydalch ranks fifth in career WCC scoring (1,940) and is on pace to be the fourth WCC student-athlete to crack 2,000. The league’s all-time scoring leader is Loyola Marymount’s Alex Cowling (2008-13) with 2,219 points. Portland All-American Martha Sheldon (1987-92) is fourth at 1,953 points.
  • San Francisco senior forward Taylor Proctor ranks 34th among active Division I scoring leaders (1,418 points). Proctor also ranks in the top-40 among active players in field goals (529/26th), field goal attempts (1,182/38), rebounds (750/24th) and double-doubles (21/33rd).
  • Loyola Marymount senior guard Leslie Lopez-Wood ranks 12th among active Division I 3-point leaders (159), averaging 2.27 per game.
  • Since 2010 one West Coast Conference program has advanced to the Sweet-16, headlined by Gonzaga’s 2011 Elite Eight trip. The Bulldogs have made four Sweet-16 berths since 2010 while BYU won a pair of games in 2014.
