SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Rawlings Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for March 6, 2016.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE RAWLINGS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – CALEB WHALEN, SR., OF - PORTLAND
Senior outfielder Caleb Whalen led the Pilots at the plate by hitting .462 with three doubles, a home run, four runs scored and five RBI’s as the Pilots won three of four against the UC Riverside Highlanders at Joe Etzel Field this weekend. Whalen was also a perfect 2-for-2 in steals and played a flawless center field. He opened the series by belting a two-run homer on Friday night as the Pilots defeated UCR 10-6. He also walked and scored twice.

Whalen went 2-for-3 with a double, two more walks and two runs scored as the Pilots won game two 8-5, and he saved perhaps his best performance for the third game as he went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI’s as Portland claimed the series with a 4-3 win. UC Riverside won the fourth and final game 4-1, but Whalen helped keep the Pilots close by throwing out a runner with a perfect throw to the plate from center field in the top of the first inning.
